The Pember Museum of Natural History and the Pember Nature Preserve are assisted in all their operations by volunteers.  Volunteers are people with an interest in natural history and a desire to learn more while helping the Pember.  Volunteer positions are available in visitor reception, educational programs, clerical work, special events, advisory committees and collections management.  No experience is necessary; the Pember provides training in all areas.  A one year commitment to five hours per month is all that is required.

Special Opportunities for College Students

The Pember Museum and Nature Preserve offer volunteer opportunities for college students to explore their career choices while providing a valuable service to the Pember.  A commitment of five hours per month is all that is required.  Volunteer work of this type can help students win acceptance in graduate schools or give them the edge in their job search.  Museum staff will train qualified students in specific duties and monitor all work.

College seniors may be eligible for credit while volunteering for the Pember.  Interns generally work fifteen to twenty hours each week and concentrate in one department of the Museum and/or Preserve.  Check with your major department at your school.
